At the same time the incidence of HIV/AIDS is decreasing for most adult populations, it is increasing dramatically among older people--especially older minorities. MSM and Heterosexual contact are the leading transmission routes. Despite these facts, little is known about how to communicate with older people about sexual risk and prevention.

This study explores  the language, techniques and approaches that social workers and caseworkers employ to discuss the sex, sexuality and the risk of HIV infection with their Latino patients and clients. The study will explore cultural considerations and culturally sensitive approaches that social workers and case workers have developed to engage their clients in such discussions.

Who we are interviewing:

Social workers who:

• Have caseloads with at least 5 HIV+ Latinos over 50 years old.
• Communicate with these clients in Spanish and are able to do the interview with us in Spanish
• Have completed an MSW or equivalent masters degree

Caseworkers who:

• Have caseloads with at least 10 HIV+ Latinos over 50 years old.
• Communicate with these clients in Spanish and are able to do the interview with us in Spanish
• Have completed an BSSW or equivalent bachelors degree
   
• Interviews take approximately 1 hour.
• We are happy to come to you to do the interview!
• Interviewees are compensated $50 for their participation.
